0 NEGATIVE BLOOD DONORS ENCOURAGED TO BECOME VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION AMBASSADORS

ST. Walburga Nyangao Referral Hospital has continued to raise community awareness on the importance of voluntary blood donation, with O Negative blood donors being encouraged to use their experience as ambassadors to motivate others to come forward and donate blood.

The call was made on September 26, 2026, during a meeting held at the Conference Hall of Mt. Walburga Nyangao Referral Hospital, which brought together O Negative blood donors and healthcare professionals from the hospital.

The meeting brought together the Clinical Services Coordinator, Social and Welfare Officer, Laboratory Manager, Patron, and O Negative blood donors, with the aim of discussing and strengthening the donors’ participation in efforts to ensure the availability of safe and adequate blood for patients in need of healthcare services.

Speaking during the meeting, the Clinical Services Coordinator, Jefta Isaya, urged the donors to continue serving as role models in the community by actively participating in raising awareness among others about the importance of voluntary blood donation.

The donors were encouraged to use their positions within the community to educate relatives, friends, and various groups about the importance of donating blood regularly, recognizing that blood is an essential resource in saving the lives of patients with different medical needs.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the blood donors to share their experiences, provide feedback, and discuss effective ways to strengthen voluntary blood donation awareness within the community
